Foot Prints

Friends, Family, Acquaintances all have the ability to change our lives. We have the power to change theirs. A kind word, a smile or even a hug can lighten their day or lighten their mood. If we all know this why do we not practice it. We forget sometimes going through the monotony of life how important we are to one another.
A harsh word  a frown, bad body language has a ripple effect on your surrounding. A child can feel their parent's anger or discomfort. A spouse can see the tension and can feel the emotions.
Why not radiate love so you can get some in return?

We all remember the old loved ones.. the ex-bf or the guy that we use to date. they have all in one way or another shaped us to be who we are. If we all thought of ourselves in that same light .. we would have more of a profound look at ourselves. Have you ever given or gotten a compliment from a stranger? Do you remember how good it felt? Why do we not do that more often? If you are checking someone out... it does not have to be of a sexual nature..let them know.

I was walking down the street the other day with my co-worker and we were talking about haircuts.. We happen to come across a lady standing curbside with exceptional hair and style that I might want to get... I walked by and paid her a compliment. Who knew if she was having a bad day or having a bad hair day.. or having a great day. But I'm sure.. if I was her... it would have made a difference. So in other words... it can be a second that you are in someone's life.. you can still leave a pretty decent size foot print.

In the Moment

Something I've learned from Mr. Sloth is to "live in the moment" and "love in the moment". If you add up the moments you've had one great relationship. What does it mean to live in the moment. and love in the moment. Do you remember being as young as the beautiful child hereand how that one moment in time blowing on the dandelion was the highlight of your day? Regardless of what happened before or after .. That one moment was filled with wishful thinking and awe...

Mr. Sloth may not be my ideal candidate for a lifetime partner.. but we have a chemistry I can not deny and have a hard time denying.. though I've tried. We have more fun now as two separate individuals living our own separate lives and coming together once a month for a great adventure.

The pressure that comes with a relationship is no longer there. We are simply enjoying each other and our presence together. We will always have our differences but have learned to appreciate each other for who we are despite our faults. Afterwards we go our separate ways till the next time to meet up. Some of the moments that I remember most:

My first hot air balloon ride in Napa Valley, CA

Biking wine tour through Napa, CA

Monterey,CA

Weekends in San Francisco, CA

Los Angeles, CA

Dear Movie Goers

Last night I went out with Mr. Leo for a nice night out. We are both working individuals with other responsibilities in our lives and do not have quite as much time to hang out with each other and try to treasure the moments we do have. After several months of trying to plan a movie night we finally got to go out last night.

We settled on watching Colombiana:

Great movie. Enough ass kicking for the guys and enough story line for the ladies.

Enough about that.. straight to the reason why It's titled: Dear Movie Goers.

To the Theater Hoppers: If you are young and too poor to afford multiple movies.. or if you are bored and just want to killed time... I'm okay with that.. Just be mindful of the people that did PAY to watch the movie. Just slip in and sit down... Don't make a production of trying to run and race each other up the stairs.. and try to find the best seat by walking through other people... and then have to get back up to walk out... half way through.. BLOCKING our view... grrrrrr

Then there are the little under age kids that comes into the theater for a place to drink their dad's stolen liquor bottle. These three guys were pouring vodka into their icee and then ... not being able to hold their liquor .. starts throwing up in their seats... and then on the stairs.. and then in the parking lot stairwells.. Please get drunk on your own time.. in your own place .. That's just RUDE and DisGusting!! This is how you guys look.. :

And FINALLY to the people that TALK THROUGH THE MOVIE! really?! if you like hearing yourself talk so much.. go home and talk into the mirror.. or go to a bar and talk.. DO NOT Waste my time and Interrupt my MOVIE experience.. Geeze!

Reading List And My Reviews

I'm including all time favorite book series dating back to my teen years to more recent discoveries.
Harry Potter Paperback Box Set (Books 1-7)My Favorite of course is the Harry Potter series. It brings back alot of great memories of time spent reading the books for the first time. Reading it a second /third/fourth... well you get the idea. And the midnight lineup for the opening night. Memories with friends and family. Hogwarts world in Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida was amazing!

One of the best vacations I've been on. .It may not be one of the best technically written book but it is a series that one can say influenced a generation and was internationally accepted. If only I could receive a Hogwarts Acceptance Letter.

The next series I really love and will always remember and re-read with fond memories. Philip Pullman: Dark Material Trilogy.

Amazon.com Review

In an epic trilogy, Philip Pullman unlocks the door to a world parallel to our own, but with a mysterious slant all its own. Dæmons and winged creatures live side by side with humans, and a mysterious entity called Dust just might have the power to unite the universes--if it isn't destroyed first. Here, the three paperback titles in Pullman's heroic fantasy series are united in one dazzling boxed set. Join Lyra, Pantalaimon, Will, and the rest as they embark on the most breathtaking, heartbreaking adventures of their lives. The fate of the universe is in their hands. The Golden Compass, The Subtle Knife, and The Amber Spyglass pit good against evil in a way no reader will ever forget. (Ages 13 and older) --Emilie Coulter --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

Sad to say the series was not as well accepted on screen and was not as widely known as Harry Potter series therefore the meat of the series was never put onto the silver screen. I would have loved to meet Will and his Dad.

3rd Series is one of my hidden secret love. The Twilight series.. Yes you heard me... The Twilight Series

This series.. very simple text .. not as eloquently written as others but the story line is catchy and tweens love this series.. also one of those movie/book series that made quite a splash. Team Jacob all the way. Personally I like the struggle and sacrafices they make to be together ( does not have to be literally vampire vs human vs shapeshifters) It can be the struggle of two race or two culture or two economical classes. I know personally if I was ever to bring home my first love to meet my parents ( which I never did) It would be WWIII for me. To find someone that you want to fight all and overcome all to be with.. (Romeo and Juliet) is inspirational. I struggle almost on a weekly basis.. on the conviction of my love and acceptance of my own personal relationship with Mr. Leo.

The Complete Anne of Green Gables Boxed Set (Anne of Green Gables, Anne of Avonlea, Anne of the Island, Anne of Windy Poplars, Anne's House of Dreams, ... Rainbow Valley, Rilla of Ingleside)
This is a classic series that explores the innocence of youth and the struggle of a girl through childhood, adolescence , and adult hood. We as readers are taken through a journey of her mind and her sense of conviction in all that she does. Love Love Love this series.. (and the movie box set was also incredible)

Most Recent Obsession. George Martin : A Song of Ice and Fire: The HBO series was AMAZING!

I just finished the last of the series so far "a Dance with Dragons" soo good.. I love the writing the story line.. the fact that the author feels no loyalty as to who is gonna get killed off. If they need to go.. they need to go. What a roller coaster of emotions..! Love it! By far one of the best writers.

So .. . those are my all time favorite series so far.. There are plenty of other books and series that I enjoy but these are classics in my mind.

Weekend Plans

I'm such a home body that I'm surprise I actually have plans this weekend. Gone are the old days of partying it up till the wee hours. Bye to the night owl that waits till the sun rises before tumbling home and fall flat on my bed to pass out. Guess it comes with growing up...

Growing Up is Overrated (just ask Da Vinci!)

Today is Friday ( Last day of the work week! Yah!!) after work is 1hr of my time spent with Mr. Gym. (sigh ). After that I want to spend time with my BF (Mr. Leo "will talk about him in a different blog"). It has been more then 2 months maybe even 3 months since we've gone so I am looking forward to it.

Poster art for "The Help."I really loved  The Help: (went to see it with Mr. Sloth "will have to talk about him in a different blog"). If you have yet to see it .. Please do :)

Teaser poster for "Rise of the Planet of the Apes."and Planet of the Apes comes highly recommended..
or... do I want to see a girl kicking some searious Ass? Poster art for "Colombiana."

Saturday: we have a birthday party to go to for Mr. Leo's coworker.. ( I love kids.. but I dont know if I really want to go.. to a stranger's little kid's bday party.) Being a total party pooper here. I grew up being kinda introverted and shy.. total book worm as a kid. Was part of the summer reading program that public libraries use to host... My every waking moment was spent with my nose in a book. ( till this day I think).

We will then be going to Oakland, CA for their Eat Real Event in Jack London Square!.. Can't wait.

Sundays are of course normal for me: Family Day or Parents Day is Weekly for me :) I spend almost every Sunday going back home to see my parents. They can be annoying at times but they are the only one's I've got and I love them to death. :)

Favorite Quote of the Day

God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.
Reinhold Niebuhr
US Protestant theologian (1892 - 1971)

If you can't tell by now I am a great admirer of random quotes: It is amazing how with a few simple words a world of meaning can be articulated. I especially love this quote for all that it can represent. Acceptance does not always mean Loving. We can learn to accept our faults and the faults of our significant other. We can learn to accept our family and all of their eccentricity. Learning to accept them will allow for bridges of communication to mend.
 Bridging-the-Gap.jpg    ashpfoundation.org

A difficult coworker can also be something we can't always control, but accepting that we cannot change it but learning how to work with it and live with it may allow us to be less stressed or aggravated at work.

Learning to accept ourselves and all of our own quirks is a lifetime of work. Everyone is born to a genetic disposition how we learn to embrace it will be the mapping of our life's work. We are born Asian/Black/White/Hispanic/Female/Male/Confused: how do we adapt that is up to us. We are born Tall/Short/Thin/Pear Shaped/Square Shape/Round. how do we accept it?
body shape, ...

We can change and adapt and learn. We can fix and mold and enhance. Like my journey through weightloss. I know I do not have a model's body. I am short 5'1 on a good day. :) And I am Asian. All these things can not be changed. But I can choose to be healthy. I can choose to not want sickness in my future when my gene pool is already against me. (Cancer on my dad side and High Blood Pressure and Cholesterol on my mom's side) But why give sickness a winning chance. As I've aged.. I learned.. to accept the wisdom of my mother's words. I use to resent it... but :::sigh::: indeed she does know best... "for the most part". So happy Acceptance to all.
